SOS Children's Villages

About us

Who we are

SOS Children’s Villages in BH is a humanitarian organisation providing care of children and young people without parental care and offers them a chance for a happy childhood and a better future. In alternative families, together with brothers, sisters and SOS parents, children grow up in a family-based environment, as we believe that every child deserves to belong somewhere, to be loved and safe. In addition to caring for children and young people without parental care, within the Family Strengthening Programme we also help biological families who are at risk of separation from their children..

196 children and youth are growing up in alternative care, and 41 families are supported through activities of family strengthening programmes.

SOS Children’s Villages of BiH are founded  in 1994 and belong to Federation of SOS Children’s Villages International the organisation that has been operating for more than 70 years in 136 countries around the world, on 5 continents.

Children's rights

Advocating for children’s rights relies on the principle of nondiscrimination. We advocate with the aim to support the most vulnerable children, growing up without parental care or at risk of losing it. We focus our advocacy on issues that have the greatest impact on the well-being and rights of children, their families and communities.

Our advocacy effort reminds officials of their responsibility to ensure that children’s rights are not violated.
